Workplace Programme
The workshop focused on skills needed for the development of workplace policies and programmes (WPP), including how to draft respective funding proposals. This included the elaboration of a checklist for issues to be addressed by a comprehensive WPP as well as the necessary steps for proposal writing. The workshop also addressed HIV/AIDS related stigma as a continuing primary concern for everybody dealing with HIV/AIDS and people affected by it. The workshop pointed out ways in which stigma awareness can be raised in the workplace environment and preconditions for behavioral change.

The workshop was organized by Invent, Capacity Building International , Germany – Economic Policy / Good Governance. Attendees included representatives from the SADC region encompassing Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, and South Africa. Olivia was nominated as a representative for Namibia by the Invent office in Namibia.

"I had an opportunity to share information and expertise with the group and trainees. Most of all, I was impressed with the contributions that the facilitators and participants made with one aim: to make Africa a better place. I really improved my skills at this workshop and also learned new skills which I will definitely put to good use."

Scope of operation
The Workplace Outreach Programme assists local businesses in the development of in-house HIV and AIDS programmes that seek to decrease the rate of HIV infection and increase the level of care and support for those who are already infected. By selling private companies in the Walvis Bay area a comprehensive set of services that includes HIV and AIDS policy development, HIV and AIDS Awareness Sessions and Peer Educator training, the Workplace Programme has been the leading source of income generated for the Walvis Bay Multi-Purpose Centre and has created employment opportunities for out-of-school youth and people living with HIV and AIDS.

Community Programme
The recent focus of the Community Outreach Programme has been the Ladies First programme. The objective of this project is to train and support a team of HIV positive women who can provide HIV & AIDS education to other women in the community. Other community projects include HIV educational shebeen sessions and a new program with the ELCIN church.

School Programme
The School Outreach Programme is currently running various activities to keep school pupils busy during the holiday. The school holiday program seeks to support the efforts of the schools to provide learners with HIV/AIDS education by providing technical and resource assistance.

Background:
The School Outreach Programme seeks to support the efforts of the schools to provide learners with HIV/AIDS education by providing technical and resource assistance.

Activities:
The Walvis Bay Multi-Purpose Centre Trust Outreach School Programme provides different activities for the school going children. A number of schools have already been sponsored Peer Education training, for them as young peer educators to educate their peers in school as well in the community about HIV and AIDS, through the different ways that is more effective to get the message across to their peers.
During the holidays, at the Walvis Bay Multi- Purpose Centre the Holiday Programme always resumes the first Monday after the schools have closed. During this time, eight sessions are held reaching about 40 learners each day between the ages of six and 14. The programme gave the learners opportunities for creative expression as well as covering Life Skills topics and informing them of the basics of HIV.
Learner information sessions are held, a rapid test demonstration are also conducted in addition to a presentation on HIV prevention for grade 11 and grade 12 learners. The session on statistics and Positive Living during Prevention Week, a formal presentation at schools by the WB MPCT.
The School Outreach Coordinator will always continue to give assistance schools and the youth that needs their assistance.
