Support group programs and activities

Background of the Support group
The Support group is a group established at the Walvis Bay Multi-Purpose Center Trust since 2001 and consists of 29 members who are HIV positive. This group meets on a weekly basis, Wednesdays from 14h00 to 15h00 to receive psycho-social support. The Walvis Bay Multi-Purpose Centre Trust has allocated two of its staff to assist the group in their weekly meetings. This group is here to strive and help the fight against HIV/AIDS. Some of the group members have been selected to serve as constant motivational speakers, to deliver HIV/AIDS talks on how they got the virus and how they live with the virus. The talks are shared in the community, workplaces, schools and at local shebeens (Informal Bars) in Walvis Bay, the Erongo Region and beyond.
